On May 7th, 2010, Mary Dettmers took Second Place in the 3-Dimensional Category
for Torus Cooling at the annual Glass As Art contest held by McMow Art Glass studio in Lake
Worth, Florida.
Peter exhibited two of his sculptures, Desire and Country Music, at
the Jupiter Town Hall Gallery of Art in the spring of 2009. The exhibit, held from June 5th to
July 10th, featured work by the Art Allance of Jupiter.
In October of 2008, Peter exhibited eleven of his sculptures at
the 12th Annual Artclectic exhibit, a cultural and fundraising event of the University School
of Nashville (USN) in Tennessee. Selected by Mark Scala, chief curator of the Frist Center for
the Visual Arts in Nashville, Peter joined 52 other artists from around the country for the
three-day event, October 24-26, 2008. In press coverage by the Nashville City Paper, Scala
described the show as having openness to both tradition and experimentation. "I hope that
visitors to this year's show," Scala said, "will find the works on view to be as beautiful and
compelling as I did, and will appreciate the educational experience it provides for the students
of University School." Peter enjoyed interacting with students at the K-through-12 school, demonstrating
how he draws his sculptures on a SolidWorks CAD program before sculpting them from metal.
Peter first displayed his artwork in late 2006 when the
Fountain of Life lamp was chosen for an exhibit at the Palm Beach
International Airport called "Flower Power." Sponsored by the county's
Art in Public Places'"Destination: Culture" program, the
exhibit extended from October 4th, 2006 to February 7th,
2007.
That same season, his lamp Wisdom was chosen from
among more than 400 entries to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the
Armory Art Center of the Palm Beaches. The Armory's 20/20 Exhibit
featured twenty works from twenty artists from December 7, 2006 through January
15th, 2007.
In the spring of that year, Peter's stained glass sculpture
Portals was included in the "Community" exhibit at the Meyerhoefer
Gallery in Lake Worth, Florida, March 8th through April 4th.
Peter exhibited the Wisdom sculpture
at the Nathan D. Rosen Gallery in Boca Raton, Florida as part of ART
2008, March 2nd through April 13th.
